In a world that is increasingly taking place online, Eiland in de stroom tells the story of a woman who spends her life in front of the computer. Games are her retreat, a substitute for the closeness and understanding she cannot find in the real world. But one day, the unimaginable happens: she is sucked into the game. On stage, the gaming world comes to life, and the audience itself becomes the player, controlling decisions in the virtual space.

But then the nightmare begins: in the game, she not only becomes a game character, but also loses her identity—and ultimately her life. In a bizarre twist, she is reborn, but not as a heroine, rather as a cow. A surreal turn of events that raises questions: Who controls whom? Is the virtual world a sanctuary or a prison?
